These photographs were taken while I was experimenting with macro photography and looking at a gumamela (hibiscus) from a different perspective. Instead of photographing the entire flower, I focused on the center, where a world of tiny details revealed itself through the lens.
Up close, the gumamela looked completely different from what I saw with the naked eye. The vibrant colors, delicate textures, and intricate structures became the subject of the photograph. Looking back at these images, I’m reminded of how much beauty can be found in familiar things when we take the time to slow down and look a little closer.
